NEW

Eight is a relaxed-fit, drapey, sleeveless tee with a round neck and shoulder pads. That’s right, shoulder pads – an eighties trend with a fresh twist. We’ve added structure to the shoulder to create a powerful, but soft silhouette as a subtle nod to the eighties. But don’t worry, there’s no need to be searching the shops for ready-made shoulder pads, where’s the fun in that? For this pattern, you get to make the shoulder pads yourself, wooo hooo!!!

Never thought you’d be wearing shoulder pads again (or ever)? Well, don’t knock it till you try it. You’ll be surprised at how great the Eight Tee will look on you and what’s more how unbelievably fierce you will feel. But don’t worry, if you really don’t want to go down that road, just leave the shoulder pads out, it may not be as powerful but it will still be beautiful.

Team your Eight Tee with a pair of jeans and trainers or smart trousers and heels and you’re good to go.

Fabric recommendations

Single jersey:

  • cotton or cotton/elastane
  • bamboo or bamboo/elastane
  • viscose or viscose/elastane
  • modal jersey
  • Tencel jersey

Eight Tee looks particularly gorgeous made in fabric with a good drape. We recommend bamboo jersey from Sister Mintaka.

You should be able to stretch your fabric by a minimum of 20% and it should snap back to its original size after stretching.

A quick and easy sew, with great impact due to the shoulder pads. A not so basic tee.
Great, easy to follow instructions – no frills

  2. semvanmanen

Easy pattern with clear instructions, sews up in a minimal amount of time and looks fab! To me it feels like I am a little bit more dressed than with a regular tee. This is a sleeveless shirt I can actually wear to work, even without a blazer.

The Eight Tee somehow manages to give out a “tough” or “fierce” vibe, all the while leaving you feeling “chic”. Yup, an unlikely yet so satisfying combo! I omitted the should pads on my first version because I didn’t have the right wadding on hand, but I’m really looking forward to trying the pads on my next version, as they give an awesome structure to the tee. That being said, it’s looks really great without the shoulder pads nonetheless.

The Eight Tee is just as perfect to do a full-on workout as it is to wear as an everyday top, looking great paired up with jeans and heels or sneakers. It’s a charm to make, such a quick sew!! I really love the “No Frills” tutorial for this pattern. The fit and design are perfect, as always with MadeIt Patterns.

  4. Amy Kushner

The Eight Tee is on-trend, but not in a passing trend kind of way. It is everything you need in a sleeveless tee. Perfect silhouette and with shoulder pads (or without) you’ll feel look and feel powerful!

  5. maritprins86

I love the Eight tee! It makes me feel like a superstar, it’s a fun and easy sew – very suitable for both beginners and advanced sewers and my my the shoulder pads are amazing!
Thanks for yet another great pattern

  6. Annabelle

This is a really quick, fun sew. I managed to put it together in a couple of half hour sessions. I never thought I would say this but I love the shoulder pads!
I like that it is so versatile… It’ll be great in the Summer but also layered over something when it’s cooler. Definitely will make another one!

Another winner of a pattern. I wasn’t too sure shoulder pads were for me, but they are. The pads and the clever cut of the fabric fold the sides to drape and stop any clinging. Quick and simple with a minimum of fabric. I used viscose jersey for my first and will use tencel jersey and bamboo jersey for more.

This pattern is a great find, with easy to follow instructions you can make it up in an afternoon. Shoulder pads..what can I say, they make me feel a little powerful which I think is what women need right now. I’m quite slender so I made the smallest size which felt comfortable and the tee just sits nicely on my hips and the shoulder pads give me more shape. I used a plain jersey elastane fabric which gives a nice amount of drape and the good thing is it used less than 1 metre of fabric. I’m going to make another one maybe using a pretty floral fabric.
