Staying in is the new going out! But just because you’re relaxing on the sofa watching Netflix and snacking on a family size bag of Maltesers, doesn’t mean you can’t do it in style.

The Hug Hoodie, part of our Loungewear Collection, is a comfy, casual, relaxed fit sweatshirt with raglan sleeves, optional hood, a cool overlap detail and a curved hem at the back. I love this pattern – made it twice already (with and without the hood). The little crossover detail at the hem is so much fun to sew and makes this pretty basic top a much more elevated finish. I made a size 20 based on my measurements, but depending on the stretch of your fabric, you could easily size down.

  2. rachaeljbfrench

Love this pattern. Pretty true to size, made a straight size 12, no alterations to sleeve length but 2” to bodice length as I’m 5ft 9” and it’s perfect on me. The crossover detail is really pretty and I just love the neck binding for a really neat finish. A really beautiful hoodie pattern with just that bit extra to make it special. Great instructions and really well drafted! I’ll be making more!!

  3. cam_clan

This pattern is amazing & fund to sew, just love the finished result, I know I will wear & wear it. I have already planned to make another

  4. Alex Whyman

I’ve made 2 Hug Hoodies so far and love them both, one in the wash while the other is being worn! Can’t wait to make more of them.

  6. gaildavison

I’ve made two of these so far. It’s a quick and simple make that is super comfortable and the lovely crossover hem detail always gets noticed when I wear one.

I absolutely love my Hug Hoodies! It’s my first pattern of madeit patterns and I am really happy with it. It’s easy sewing, looks great and is comfy. I also sewed one for my daughter as a partneroutfit 🙂 I look forward sewing more madeit patterns!

Highly recommended the Hug Hoodie pattern! This is my first Made It Pattern and I have since purchased 3 more and this will definitely be a repeat make and become a staple in my wardrobe. The quality instructions were easy to follow and I love that the details are unique and a bit different. This pattern is a must for your everyday wardrobe and can be paired with the slow pants (which are next my list). The styling is suitable for all ages and sizes. It’s a really simple pattern to follow and suitable for all levels of experience. Great value for money!

Sometimes it’s a detail catching my attention, and this fun faux wrap effect was definitely it for me!

I first saw Laura @thespeckyseamstress making this, and I knew I wanted to make it too! I was so fortunate to win this pattern in a giveaway, so I guess it’s hashtag gifted? (Never sure about these things, so I’m mentioning it for good sports!)

I chose to make a size 16, and I made no alterations. The pattern is marked as a beginner pattern, and it really is very easy and straightforward. You’ll sew it up in an afternoon depending on your skill level!

The construction was a bit different than I’m used to, but I found that rather entertaining! Especially amused by one of the comments in the instructions saying something like “don’t try it on now, you’ll feel like a banana”. (Take a wild guess – did I?😏🍌)

I highly recommend this pattern to all, whether you’re a new or seasoned sewing bee🐝 I will be making more for sure!

  10. Amber Last

I am absolutely obsessed with this pattern. My very first Made It pattern, I am super impressed with the drafting of the pieces and the detail in the tutorial. I would highly recommend this pattern and designer. As an aside, I LOVE playing with colour and colour blocking, so this is a fun and easy way to add some pops of colour in my me-made clothing! Love love love! Can’t wait to try more of the patterns! (After I’m done making about a dozen of these.)

  11. Laura

A really well designed, and great fitting pattern with simple to follow instructions. It sews up quickly and easily. Recommended.

  12. Nienke

Great design + easy sew = a very rewarding project! Plain colour or some accents and you’ll get a very different result. Love that it is both comfortable and stylish. I love to wear mine with a pencil skirt and sneakers to go out!

  13. Madeleine

I have been living in my Hug Hoodies since I finished sewing them up. I needed two so I could wear one while the other was in the wash!! This pattern has such a clever design, it sews up so well and quickly, even for a slow sewist such as myself. The tutorial, on top of being sassy and humorous, is very clear and thorough and leaves no space for “head scratching moments”, making it a perfect project for sewists of all levels. The pattern pieces come together effortlessly. Make a hoodless one and also a hooded version, and you’ll see, you won’t be able to stop! 😀

I belong to the ‘she always wears a sweater with jeans and sneakers’ group, so I absolutely love new sweater patterns with unique details like this Hug Hoodie. I love the hemband detail, the loooonnng sleeves and most of all, no need to grade towards the hips in my case. Perfect!

  15. Sarah

I’ve lived in this HUG since I made it. The pattern sewed up without a hitch, with a super clear tutorial and the fit was great first time round. Simply love it. Need another ASAP to get me through the wash cycle…

  16. The flawsome mom

Pick a cosy fabric for this ideal sweater: the hug hoodie really loved up to its name. I love the hem and the optional hood. Playing around with colourblock and your wardrobe will be on trend in no time!

  17. Filsanddraps

I love the patterns of Madeit Patterns because behind some apparent simple lines they always hide a great design. The Hug sweat is a great example: beautiful, comfortable and very quick to sew. I do not take mine off, It has become my uniform of happiness, as soon as I get home I wear it with my Slow pants

  18. Laura

Wow, what a beautifully cosy pattern, versatile for casual, or a bit more grown up, this pattern has oodles of potential for colour blocking and hacking. I’ve made 5 (so far….)

  19. Amy

MadeIt Patterns never fails in comfort and style. The Hug is cozy and comfortable with just the right details. I have a stack of FT waiting to become Hugs!

  20. Holly

I LOVE this pattern! The Hug was an easy and fairly quick make for me, even as a beginner to sewing with knits. I love the fit and it is definitely very cozy!! Can’t wait to make a few more!

  21. Mariz Voesenek

I like my garments simple and with an edge, this pattern fits the bill totally. It sews up like a dream, you can customize all you want and its lovely to wear. Im working towards a whole closet full of them. Im boring like that, I can just have this sweater in every fabric and color I desire. Which is mainly grey and black:)
