Shop sales are in British Pounds  CURRENCY CONVERSION

The Rest Vest is an extremely versatile, easy to wear, cleverly constructed garment with a unique back detail and angled seamlines that lends itself to colour-blocking. Unlike the Rest Vest for adults, it’s cut for a slim fit.

It is ideal for everyday escapades as well as for sports. Team it up with our ever-popular PLAY PANTS to make comfy summer sleepwear. Or use sports jersey to make beach-ready swimwear, with a sleek, luxury vibe.

Fabric recommendations

  • Light to medium weight jersey, something with a bit of drape works well like a viscose/elastane or a technical sportswear jersey.
  • A poly/cotton or 100% cotton single jersey will be fine, as long as it’s a lighter weight so it has a bit of drape.

You should be able to stretch the fabric by a minimum of 20% and it should snap back to its original size after stretching.

This is such a clever design! Very practical for using up leftovers, as you can easily combine two different colours / textures / weights and it will look very intentional. I made this for myself, an adult woman, as a running top. The 2nd largest size fits me perfectly, and I want to make several more! For example a mesh back would be fun with this. The pattern pieces came together nicely, and it was a surprisingly fast project. The instructions are lovingly written and arranged, and I love the little worksheet where you can plan your project by colouring it in and making notes about fabric choices.

The rest vest is a great pattern – geometrically magic and a revelation to sew. The binding is not as tricky as you think and my daughter gave it the thumbs up.

  3. Janey Millar

Love love love this pattern! Clever construction makes an interesting shape and those dreaded arm bindings a breeze!
The instructions are clear and thorough with a good dose of humour and the fit is spot on.

My tween loves it and wants another one which makes this mama’s heart happy!

This was the most satisfying make!!! When I looked at the photo I thought it was going to be really hard to make. But it was super easy, beautifully finished and looked like it took a lot more effort than it actually did. Love it!!
